While many people just see Veterans Day as another day off others are taking the time to honor and thank those who have fought for our country.

Some companies will be holding sales, while others will be offering veterans free products.

This year a Hudson Valley company is going above and beyond.

Putnam Dental is offering one veteran a full smile makeover. According to a press release, the smile makeover is valued anywhere from $5,000 to $40,000 and "all local veterans (within a 50 mile radius of Putnam Dental Associates) who have served in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces ages 18+ are invited to apply."

The staff at Putnam Dental created Stars and Smiles because "too many veterans have overcome great obstacles, only to find the last hurdle they face is the first thing people see: their smile. They may feel that their dental problems are hopeless and find themselves embarrassed by the way they look and hide their smile."

Veterans are asked to share stories about why their smile has held them back, and has kept them from living a normal life. Applications must be submitted by November 30th.

For an application head to PutnamDental.com.
