A Hudson Valley track coach found guilty of sexually assaulting a child he coached will likely spend the rest of his life in prison.

On Tuesday in Westchester County Court, 38-year-old Samuel Davis of Mount Vernon was sentenced to 100 years in state prison.

In June, he was found guilty of first-degree criminal sexual act, seven counts of second-degree rape, two counts of second-degree criminal sexual act, and three counts of third-degree rape, all felonies.

According to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, Davis engaged in repeated and long term sexual assaults of a child he coached between 2012 and
2015.

Mount Vernon Police became aware of the abuse in April of 2015, after rumors of the sexual relationship between Smith, an assistant coach on a private track team, and a child he coached began to spread throughout the community.

Officials say the unnamed child eventually told a relative of the defendant’s prolonged abuse of her.

The investigation then involved the Special Prosecutions Division of the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, which worked with the Mount Vernon Police Department and the Westchester County Child Advocacy Center to investigate the case.

The investigation revealed that the Smith later served as a volunteer track coach at the girl’s high school in the Bronx.

Davies was remanded into the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections.
