Hudson Valley Businesses Rally for Furloughed Government Workers

So, it's been 30 days of government shutdown, the longest in U.S. history, and a number of Hudson Valley businesses are stepping up to make sure that those impacted by the shutdown can still eat, drink and even have some fun.

The Mid Hudson Children's Museum is offering it's third 'Free Pizza and Play Night' - this after 2 really successful events that offered government employees and their families a night out of food and socializing.  According to their press release, those who attended one or both of the other events are more than welcome to come this Thursday 1/24/19 from 5-7:30pm.  As with the previous nights, a valid government ID is required, as is advance registration by calling the museum during business hours at (845) 471-0589, or by RSVP'ing HERE.  MHCM reports the following:

A buffet dinner will be provided, including pizza generously donated by Chef Joel Trocino of Amici’s Restaurant, and chowder generously donated by River Station Restaurant, both of Poughkeepsie. For this third event, Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum is coordinating with TEG Federal Credit Union and Mental Health America to provide information on community resources and services available to furloughed workers who are impacted by the partial shutdown of the federal government which is now the longest on record.

Last week we learned that Samuel's Sweet Shop in Rhinebeck would be offering free coffee for furloughed employees, now, we can add Cafe Con Leche, just near the New Hamburg train station (that recently reopened) to the list, offering free coffee and a buttered roll to those impacted.  Follow their facebook page for more information.

The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley will also be offering a special distribution event Thursday 1/24/19 from 9am-4pm for unemployed or unpaid federal employees, and you can get more information HERE.

The Hudson Valley Renegades also issued a statement that indicates they will offer free tickets to a game this summer for those impacted by the government shutdown.  There are 4 games to pick from, and the full press release can be found on their facebook page.
