Henry J. “Hank” Bernatowicz, 83 of Montgomery, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. The son of the late Joseph and Victoria (Marshel) Bernatowicz, he was born October 20, 1934 in Butler Township, PA.

Henry was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School, Orange County Community College and Mt. St. Mary College. He proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1952-1956 and in the US Air Force from 1956-1972. Henry was a thoughtful, loving, caring husband and father. His family was his whole life, especially his grandchildren. To Henry, life was always good.

Survivors include his wife, Filomena Bernatowicz, at home; his children, Joseph and his wife Sandy of Freeland, MD, Vincent and his wife Kathie of Mahwah, NJ and Lynn Roosa of Port Jervis, NY; grandchildren, Sarah, Gregory, Jessica, Rachel, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Sarah, Caleb, Joshua, Julie and Christopher; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Joseph, John, Edwin, Bernard and Rita, and his son-in-law Jeffrey Roosa.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 pm on Friday, January 19 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, January 20 in St. Mary’s Church, Montgomery. Burial with military honors will follow in Orange County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Goshen.
