The controversial Golden Corral on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie has finally reopened its doors, and the restaurant is making one thing perfectly clear to its customers.

If you've been following the drama of the Route 9 Golden Corral you already know that the restaurant has had a long and rocky road to reopening. When the restaurant originally debuted in early 2017 it was plagued with management issues. Customers complained of food that was sub-par and promised buffet items that just weren't available. Stories of an overdose in the restaurant bathroom and a dispute with workers over unpaid wages contributed to Golden Corral's eventual closure.

After the chain vowed to never open a restaurant on the property again, they clearly had a change of heart. On Tuesday morning the Golden Corral officially reopened its doors to the public, but this time things are different.

A huge sign greeted customers on the first day reminding them that the Golden Corral is now under new ownership.

The large sign on the front lawn is clearly there to put diners at ease, reminding them that the troubles that plagued the buffet are now a distant memory. But is that really the case?

While it's too early to tell if the restaurant has truly turned a corner, from the looks of the parking area customers are more than willing to give Golden Corral a second chance. Just one hour after officially reopening, the lot was  completely filled with cars. Now it's up to the restaurant to get those customers coming back for more.
