Gertrude “June” Pope MacInnes, a Longtime Dutchess County Resident, Dies at 93

Gertrude “June” Pope MacInnes, 93, a resident of Dutchess County since 1945 and previously of West Palm Beach, FL, died on June 18, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born on February 26, 1924 in Boston, MA, June was the daughter of Harrison and Gertrude (Choate) Pope. On June 12, 1948 in Beacon, she married the love of her life, William D. MacInnes, who predeceased her in 2008.

June studied chemistry at Florida State University where she graduated in 1945 and worked as a chemist for Texaco in Glenham for nearly 5 years. She also worked for Mid Hudson Medical Group in Fishkill as a medical assistant for 35 years until her retirement in 2000. She was a member of the Dutchess County Girl Scout Council and member of Trinity Episcopal where she served with the Altar Guild.

June is survived by her daughter, Marcy MacInnes of Poughkeepsie; and her grandson, Ian Davis and his wife Karlla of Brooklyn.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 24, from 1-3pm at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1200 Main Street, Fishkill. The Funeral Service will follow at 3pm. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc.
