According to several social media posts, the Galleria at Crystal Run was evacuated on Sunday afternoon. There have been reports of gunshots by eyewitnesses.

According to NBC, a shooting was reported at American Eagle around 3:15 p.m.

A public Facebook post by Kerry Ferdinand Edlinger claimed that a shooting took place near the American Eagle store. Edlinger says two people were shot.

New York State Police responded to reports of shots fired at Galleria at Crystal Run Mall. A public information officer confirmed to CNN Newsource Correspondent Kristen Holmes that two people were injured.

"We don’t know at this time if they were shot, or if they were injured while trying to evacuate," the officer told Holmes.

A Goshen mother and her 12-year-old son were treated at a local hospital for minor cuts, reports NBC.  It's still unclear how the injuries were sustained.

Just before 5pm the Town of Woodbury Police Department released the following statement:

At this time, what we are hearing was that the shooting was an accidental discharge from a firearm. A round hit the floor then ricocheted off of glass injuring people. People have minor injuries from the glass shards, AND NO FATALITIES HAVE BEEN REPORTED AT THIS TIME. No one can confirm an active shooter entering or exiting the mall. The Galleria has been placed on lock down as normal protocol and police are still investigating at this time. Again, reports are still unconfirmed and we will update you as soon as we get more information available. Thank you

Police are looking for a man whose gun went off. Authorities are basing their misfire theory on security footage from inside the mall.

"At this time it appears that a male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and gray pants discharged one round from a handgun into the floor on the second level of the mall in front of the American Eagle store," Wallkill Police Chief Robert Hertman said at a briefing outside the mall.

Footage showed the man with a woman who was pushing a baby stroller. The man walked out of the mall after the shooting. The suspect hasn't been located.

The Facebook page for Orange County Emergency Management made the following announcement about the incident:

There is an active an ongoing investigation with law enforcement currently underway at the Galleria in Middletown.

At this time the public is requested to please avoid the area where possible.
OCEM and partner agencies are on site and assisting at this time. It is important to note that OCEM does not comment on law enforcement actions or procedures.

Until such time as we can provide VERIFIABLE information we would ask the public not speculate as rumors can and will cause additional resources to be used unnecessary.

We will provide updates as information becomes available.

Video posted by Instagram user latin_dominican shows police running inside the mall as shoppers fled.

There are reports of a heavy police presence at the mall, but we have no indication that this is an active shooter situation.

This is a breaking story and we will have more information as soon as it is available.
