Hopefully this Hudson Valley connection can bring some talent to the Hudson Valley.

On Thursday, December 28th the New York Giants named Dave Gettleman the new General Manager. Gettleman has been working in the NFL for almost 30 years, 4 of which were as the GM of the Carolina Panthers and several years working within the Giants organization.

Gettleman obviously has a deep understand of the game of football and knows how to create an excellent team dynamic. While as GM, Gettleman's Carolina Panthers made it all the way to Super Bowl 50.

Like most coaches and athletes, Gettleman had to start somewhere. And that somewhere was right here in the Hudson Valley.

Earlier this year Mr. Gettleman visited Spackenkill High School in Poughkeepsie to visit the place where it all started.

Back in 1973 Gettleman was a teacher and coach for the Spackenkill football program. He was able to lead the Spartans to two league titles. He also briefly coached in Kingston.

It's a well known fact that the Giants have struggled this year and moves were made in the organization that fans weren't too happy about. This move, however, seems to be a move in the right directions.
