There were several arrests for fighting and disorderly conduct at the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Wappingers Falls on Saturday.

The parade, which was attended by thousands of Hudson Valley residents, was mostly peaceful until at least one large fight broke out on the corner of Main and Mill Street in the Village of Wappingers, just steps away from families that were watching the festivities.

Police Commissioner Carl Calabrese told us that officers made some "disorderly conduct arrests at the parade for fighting." Eyewitnesses say that the fight apparently started after a female was pushed and injured herself. At least two ambulances were on the scene and several people were placed in handcuffs in the aftermath of the fight.

Wappingers Police quickly dispersed the crowd, telling anyone with open containers to leave the area. As of Monday afternoon there was no official information released by the police as to the exact number of arrests or if anyone has been officially charged. As for the injuries, we also do not know how serious they were and if anyone needed to be admitted to the hospital.

If you were at the parade we'd like to know what you think about the arrests and fighting. Do you think it's damaged the reputation for this otherwise family-friendly celebration? You can let us know in the comments section below or on our official Facebook page.
