Run To The Hills   10K / 5K / 1 Mile Family Fun Run

A run to promote fitness among young and old alike and support Troop 8 - Sawkill, NY

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

All levels of the Scouting program share three specific objectives: Character development, Citizenship training, and Personal fitness.
Character - One is growth in moral strength and character. We may define this as what the boy is himself; his personal qualities, his values, his outlook.
Citizenship - A second is participating citizenship. Used broadly, citizenship means the boy's relationship to others. He comes to learn obligations to other people, to the society he lives in, and to the government that presides over that society.
Fitness - A third aim of Boy Scouting is development of physical, mental, and emotional fitness. Fitness includes the body (well-tuned and healthy), the mind (able to think and solve problems), and the emotions (self-control, courage, and self-respect).

Our 2nd annual Run to the HIlls is scheduled for Sunday, May 15, 2016. One hundred percent of net proceeds of the race and festival will be used to support the camping, hiking, service and leadership opportunities of Troop 8. We hope to attract 400-500 race participants. Traffic to our website continues to grow, increasing the exposure of our corporate sponsors to the community.
