Residents were quite startled after an explosion rocked parts of Orange County Thursday.

The blast reportedly happened off of Vidi Road in Salisbury Mills. Multiple calls were received after the loud explosion was heard in the Lakes Road vicinity.

And while this story is still developing, we know the source of the blast. According to the Orange and Rockland County Fire Facebook page, it appears that a Salisbury Mills man decided to blow up an outhouse on his property.

It is unknown as of now what sort of device was used to detonate the outhouse. Multiple police agencies are currently investigating.

Fire fighters in a vein effort to fend off the obvious jokes are saying gas was not the cause of the explosion. This isn't stopping the commenters on the Orange and Rockland Fire FB page from having some fun with this.

We'll have more as this story develops.
