Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Travis, 94, died on March 30, 2017 at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie. Betty had previously lived in Cortlandt Manor and Yonkers.
Born on August 29, 1922 in Peekskill, Betty was the daughter of Irving and Jane (McCormack) Travis. She worked for many years in the family business, both as a clerk and “bookkeeper” at Baywood Cleaners in Yonkers. She had attended St. Mary’s Church in Yonkers and St. Columbanus Church in Cortlandt Manor. Betty led an exciting life and rubbed elbows with some very infamous people. She was a wonderful woman who always had a smile on her face and was always willing to help everyone who knew her. Everyone will remember Betty saying “You have a beautiful face and I’m lovin’ ya” or “I gotta love ya.” Betty’s love and kindness lasted all the days of her life.
Betty is survived by her great niece, Regina and her husband, Stephen Sokolik and their children, Cory, Isabella, and Noelani; her nieces and nephews, Karen Martin, Regina Reno, Gerald(Patricia) Cancredi, and Gregory Cancredi and Tommy LaRoque; her great nephew, Justin Reno; her sister, Catherine (Louis) Sabatini and a host of many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Patricia and Genaro Cancredi, Jane (Robert) Martin, Richard Travis, John (Mae) Travis, Kenneth (Shirley) Travis, and Dorothy Travis; her nephews and niece, John Sabatini, Timothy Martin and Barbara Castaldo; her great nephew and his wife, Clifford Seiferheld and Maureen Cipully; and her great, great nephew, Dino Tonelli.
The family would like to thank the Lutheran Care Center for all the love and care given to Betty especially Akim.
