A Citi Bike rider was fatally struck by a bus on Monday. The driver has been identified as a Hudson Valley man.

The Daily News reports that the accident occurred in Chelsea around 8:15am on Monday. An employee of Credit Suisse Bank, Dan Hanegby, was headed to his job when he was hit by the bus. The 36-year-old man was swerving around a van on West 26th St. when he failed to see the bus next to him. The father of two lost control of the bike and slid under the rear wheels of the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet.

The bus driver was identified as Poughkeepsie resident Dave Lewis. The 52-year-old man passed a sobriety test and was not charged in the fatal accident. Lewis was driving a Coach USA bus, but it's unknown if there were any passengers on board at the time of the accident.

This is the first time a Citi Bike rider has been struck and killed since the program began almost five years ago. There are currently 10,000 Citi Bikes on the streets of New York City.
