A Hudson Valley man will be competing on "American Ninja Warrior."

Charles Smith's training will be tested this Monday when the Poughkeepsie athlete takes on the most feared obstacle course during a qualifying round of "American Ninja Warrior" filmed in Cleveland.

Smith, a trainer at Gold's Gym in Lagrange, has posted videos of his practice for the show which includes homemade version of obstacles such as the warped wall, the double salmon ladder, the peg wall and the tumbling dice.

According to his website, Smith is much more than just an American Ninja Warrior. The trainer is also a children’s book author, poet, photographer and Mixed Martial Arts coach.

Gold's Gym in LaGrange will be hosting a party to view Smith's appearance on the show this Monday night at 8pm. The public is invited to the Gold's Gym Lagrange Cafe to watch the show and cheer on our hometown warrior.

In 2014 another Poughkeepsie resident, 50-year-old  Carlos Canadilla competed on the show and shared his experience with us.

We won't know how Charles Smith does or if he progresses to the finals in Las Vegas until the episode airs this Monday night at 8pm on NBC.
