A closure and detour of a popular Dutchess County bridge continues, almost a month after it was expected to be reopened.

East Fishkill Police say that the paving of the Route 82 Bridge was completed on Wednesday. But, due to some cold weather restrictions the bridge won’t be opened until at least this weekend.

The bridge has been closed since late March. At the time, residents were told construction would be completed by October.

The New York State Department of Transportation closed State Route 82 over the Spout Creek near in intersection of All Angels Hill Road. Commuters were told they would see an increase in drive time due to detours.

The official detour is from Route 52 at Route 82 in Fishkill down to Palen Road (County Route 31) to Route 82 in Hopewell Junction, or in reverses.

Some residents voiced concerns that the detours would increase traffic near John Jay East Fishkill High School.

Anyone with any questions regarding the project is asked to contact Halmar International, LLC at 845-735-3511. Questions regarding traffic issues should go to the New York State Department of Transportation at 1-866-553-3090.
