Dr. Frank A. Simone, a Former Poughkeepsie Resident, Dies at 89

Dr. Frank A. Simone, 89, formerly of Poughkeepsie, died peacefully on September 19, 2017 at ArchCare at Ferncliff Nursing Home.

Born on May 16, 1928 in the Bronx, he was the son of Thomas and Rose (Scaramoza) Simone. Dr. Simone was an Anesthesiologist for more than 30 years with Poughkeepsie Anesthesia Group at Vassar Brothers Hospital. He had been a member of the Amrita Club and Italian Center in Poughkeepsie. Following his retirement, he lived in Raleigh and Cary, NC, Newtown, CT, and Fiskdale, MA.

On January 7, 1956 in the Bronx, Dr. Simone married Mary Gemma Ricco who predeceased him on February 14, 2012. He is survived by his sister, Elisa Grim of Ridgewood, NJ; his children and their spouses, Paula and Ralph Serafinowicz of Sturbridge, MA, Marisa and Jack Hart of Garner, NC, Ellen and Christopher Hallgren of Hopewell Junction and Thomas Simone of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Lora and Michael Serafinowicz, Lisa and Daniel Hart, Michelle and Anthony Simone and John Hallgren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 11am at St. Mary’s Church, 231 Church Street, Poughkeepsie followed by interment in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
