Hamlet of Wallkill...Born and raised in Utica, New York, Dora, and her beloved husband, Patrick Joseph Carolan (predeceased), gave their five children a wonderful childhood in Freeport, Long Island; lived joyfully for many years in Barefoot Bay, Florida; and moved 17 years ago, to Wallkill, NY to be nearer to their children and grandchildren.  Dora’s baby blue eyes were the first thing that greeted you followed by her warm smile.  She loved a good joke, to listen to stories, be around children, handsome men, and to raise a glass of Jameson’s on the back deck on a warm afternoon.  An accomplished oil painter, Dora discovered her talents in her sixties and painted into her late eighties.  Dora made a killer meat loaf and barbecued beef, loved the beach, dancing with her husband, California, BBQ ribs, and Tom Selleck.  She was thrilled to have voted for the first woman for President and to become a grandma and great grandma.  Her loving children include: Elizabeth (Charles) O’Neil, Joan (Tim) McAdam, Kathleen (Carl) Memoli, Mary Lou (fiancé Dan Torelli) and the youngest, “golden boy,” Patrick.  She was the grandmother to Liam McAdam, Sara and Daniel Memoli, Katharine Carolan Sulentich, Zachary and Samantha Carolan and great grandmother to Mackenzie Carolan McAdam.  We will miss you Mom, “God bless.” The family gives loving thanks to Svetlana Best for her devotion and wonderful care of Dora at home these last three months.  Visiting hours at the Wallkill Funeral Home are Friday, March 24, 2017, 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.; a funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 25 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Rt. 44-55, Gardiner, NY.  Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery in Gardiner.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Dora’s memory to your favorite charity to make the world a better place.
