Allegedly, the woman nearly struck the officers as she drove off, causing them to jump out of the way.

On Sunday, at approximately 5:23 a.m. City of Newburgh Police responded to a residence on Benkard Avenue for a domestic dispute.

Officers arrived and separated the male and female parties, and during the investigation determined that no crime had been committed.

The female party, identified as 23-year old Odarly Rodriguez-Reyes,became upset and began to leave the area towards a motor vehicle. After getting into the vehicle and activating the ignition, the officers on scene attempted to stop her from driving away, as during the initial investigation she had appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

The vehicle pulled away from the curb, and she allegedly drove towards the officers, causing them to jump out of the way to avoid being struck.

Officers followed the vehicle into Cornwall, where the vehicle rear-ended another vehicle on Route 9W south of the hospital.

Ms. Rodriguez-Reyes was then taken into custody and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The other motorist was also transported to the Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Rodriguez-Reyes was charged with Assault, Reckless Endangerment, DWI, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License. She was held pending arraignment.
