Christmas is a time for celebrations and many of those include traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. Sometimes the tradition isn't what is served at dinner, or what songs are sung, but where you visit during the holidays and for many families in the Hudson Valley, it wasn't Christmas until they made a visit to Herman's Nursery on Route 44 in Poughkeepsie.

The animated Christmas Wonderland was magical with live animals, holiday vignettes, being able to walk through dozens of lit and decorated trees, and so much more.  This past August, the man who started it all, William Herman, passed away at the age of 82 and his obituary mentions the generations of families whose lives he touched with the magic of the holidays and his Christmas Wonderland and store.

So, as this is his family's first Christmas without him, we thought we would pay tribute to him and take a walk down memory lane to Christmas Wonderland at Herman's Nursery. Thank you for the happy memories you made for so many of us.

Don't you wish it was still there? What are your memories of Herman's Nursery at Christmastime? Where is your favorite place to go to celebrate the holidays?
