A Hudson Valley man admitted he robbed a number of local businesses. On Wednesday in Orange County Court, 30-year-old John Elliott of Woodbury pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery, in connection with three robberies he was accused of committing in Woodbury in the span of one year.

On December 23, 2016, Elliott entered the Charming Charlie women’s store in Monroe, displayed a gun, and demanded money. The staff at the store gave Elliott over $900 in cash.

On February 14, 2017, Elliott entered the Edible Arrangements store in Monroe and displayed a gun. He fled after he was given over $1,300.

Elliott pled guilty in connection with those two robberies.

Elliot was also accused of pretending to have gun in his pocket to rob $300 from Sallies Beauty Supplies on December 13, 2017.

“People are entitled to feel secure in their places of business, as well as in their homes,” Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said. "People who violate that security deserve to be punished. This defendant violated that security, not only at gunpoint or under the threat of a gun, but multiple times. Orange County’s citizens can feel just a bit safer while the defendant is in custody for more than the next decade.”
