Crash Claims Life of Hudson Valley Woman

New York State Police are investigating a Friday morning accident that claimed the life of 73-year-old Ann M. Powers of Grahamsville.

Troopers have said that 77-year-old Edward Schaffer of Ramsey, NJ exited State Route 17 West at exit 100A in Liberty and ran the stop sign at the end of the ramp. He then proceeded to turn right on State Route 55 where he crossed the double yellow lines and collided head-on into a vehicle driven by Powers. Power was pronounced dead at the scene. Schaffer was treated at Catskill Regional Medical Center and then transported to Westchester Medical Center for additional treatment.

State Police have indicated that the investigation is ongoing.
