Police believe they caught a man who’s responsible for robbing two Hudson Valley banks.

Monday afternoon, a man robbed a Chase Bank in Yonkers. Authorities were told that a man entered the bank, approached a teller, and handed a note to the teller. He later fled the bank with about $5,000.

The suspect was described as approximately 30 to years old with short black hair. He was seen carrying a black backpack and was wearing blue pants with a white stripe down the legs and white sneakers.

Wednesday, an off-duty Yonkers Police Detective who was involved in the retrieval of the bank surveillance video, observed a vehicle travelling southbound on the New York State Thruway that he recognized as a possible suspect vehicle from the bank robbery.

The detective told on-duty personnel of his location and he provided a description of the vehicle.

The car was pulled over by Yonkers Police in the Bronx in the vicinity of the MTA train station. A male suspect who inside the vehicle attempted to leave the area via train, officials say.

The suspect, identified as, 48-year-old Victor Gaza, was arrested before he could hop on a train.

Police investigated the man and allege he was the person who robbed the Chase Bank on Monday.

As police investigated further, they also allege that Gaza is responsible for a robbery which took place in late July at the Peoples Alliance Federal Credit Union. In this case, the suspect also produced a note and he fled the location with approximately $2,240.00.

Gaza was charged with two counts of 1st-degree robbery.
