New York State Police continue to investigate the 1977 homicide of a Sullivan County woman. 

On March 4th, 1977, State Police received a radio report of a stabbing at the home the Anna Brown, Summittville, NY. Troopers arrived at the two-story home and were met by Barbara Millspaugh of Wurtsboro, the daughter of the victim.

Anna Jane Brown, age 43 was found deceased on the floor in the foyer of her residence.

An investigation revealed a gaping wound in the center of her chest along with numerous knife wounds and traumatic injuries to the head and face. Her slacks and under garments were pulled down to her knees, and blouse pushed up to the bra line.

Medical examination disclosed twenty-one stab wounds including two knives left in her body along with evidence of strangulation. Neighborhood interviews and related investigative actions uncovered one prime suspect, according to a press release.
