This weekend Resorts World Catskills in Sullivan County is having their "official" grand opening with VIP parties and a performance by a legendary stand-up comedian.

Now the casino in the Town of Thompson has been opened since February of this year but not everything was in place at the time, just the casino floor and a couple of restaurants.  But now that everything is in place, including the recently opened poker room, Resorts World is celebrating by having a VIP grand opening party. Who were some of the celebrities spotted Friday night?

One was Neil Patrick Harris from "How I Met Your Mother" and "Doogie Howser, M.D."  He left the VIP area and came down to the casino floor where he was watching some roulette and crap table action.  I happened to be rolling the dice when he walked by, I said hello, he said what up and kept on going.  He had a small entourage with him, probably looking for the high roller tables.  Speaking of entourage...

Adrian Grenier a.k.a. Vincent Chase from the tv show "Entourage" was also in attendance Friday night.  Adrian has Hudson Valley ties as he is a graduate of Bard College in Annandale-On-Hudson in Dutchess County.  He too was cruising around the casino floor after taking part in the VIP party which had a indoor poolside party.  The sports world was represented as well as this guy was gracious enough to say hello to me while rolling the dice.

Former NY Giant and hall of fame lineback Lawrence Taylor was in attendance along with former NY Giants quarterback and now CBS commentator Phil Simms.  Taylor said hello to me and saw I was rolling the dice at the crap table.  He yelled "don't crap out" for which I did 3 rolls later.  But oh well can't win them all, in fact I lost some but I did have fun for the night.

The celebrity list continues Saturday night when comedian Jerry Seinfeld performs at Resorts World Catskills Epicenter at 8pm.  VIP tickets are about the only thing left on sale at this link.  Musician and local hero Gavin DeGraw (from Fallsburg) will be at the Epicenter on Friday May 18th.
