Al was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Class of ’69. He was a lifetime member of Black Rock Fish & Game Club in Cornwall. He loved to hunt and enjoyed his fishing trips with his father, brother and family. He was also an avid bowler and belonged to several bowling leagues. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mary Jane was a faithful parishioner of her beloved St. Patrick’s Church where she served as Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Choir Member. She was active in Cursillo and REC (Residents Encounter Christ), and was a volunteer at NCPA. She was employed in the Laboratory at St. Luke’s Hospital for 38 years, 17 as the manager, then became the Director of Religious Education at St. Patrick’s Church for 18 years.

Shirley attended Newburgh Schools. Shirley worked for the Grand Union and George M. Carroll, as a bus monitor. When she and Ralph retired to Lake Luzerne, Shirley enjoyed volunteering at the Holy Mother and Child Parish in Corinth, NY. She also volunteered with the VA and took many trips to Albany to help the veterans. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She and Ralph loved to travel and enjoyed all of their cruises over the years. Our mom was an amazing cook and her Italian meals were the best in town as were our Tuesday night dinners.

Born in Chazy, New York on March 11, 1922, she was the daughter of Hector A. and Elizabeth Girard Poissant. She attended Chazy Central Rural School and graduated in 1942. She was Valedictorian and her future husband, Joseph was Salutatorian. He always bragged that his wife was smarter than he was. She attended Crane School of Music in Potsdam and was an accomplished pianist, organist and vocalist. Anita worked for the Air Force and for Ayerst Laboratories as a secretary. On May 3, 1947, Anita married Joseph F. Ladue, her childhood sweetheart, at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy, New York. In 1964, the family moved to Highland, New York. Anita and Joseph were active members of the community, especially St. Augustine’s Parish, where they started the One More Time Thrift Shop.

Raili was active in the Lomala Civic Association, and was well known for the pulla that she lovingly baked. She loved music, gardening, and rooting for the Mets. She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Eetu Heino. She is also survived by: her daughter Sirpa and her husband Bill Quinn, son Kari and his wife Anna, five grandchildren, and two great-grandsons.

Born in New York City on December 6, 1933, he was the son of the late Abraham and Violet (Lotman) Nachamkin. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn where he was a two-time All New York City basketball player. He earned a basketball scholarship to New York University where he was a formidable, highly-respected figure on the court and a leader of the Violets during three varsity seasons. He set single-season and career NYU records for points scored and is a member of the NYU Athletics Hall of Fame. He graduated NYU/Stern in 1954 and was selected in the second round of the 1954 NBA Draft by the Rochester Royals. His promising NBA career was cut short when he was drafted into the US army.

She is survived by her children, Joseph Volk of Beacon, Stephen Volk and his wife Jennifer of Hopewell Junction, Bruce Merritt, Cindy M. Merritt, Diane McKenna and her husband Peter, and Jean Merritt; her grandchildren, Jennifer Volk, Stephen Volk, Julia Volk, Amanda Merritt, Shane Walden, James McKenna, and Madison McKenna; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Clare and Bob Shultis of Hopewell Junction. Stephanie was predeceased by her husband, Martin V. Merritt in 1987, her brother, Stephen J. Bondra, Jr., and her grandson, Peter J. McKenna, III.
