If you have the windows tinted on your car or truck this will affect you at some point over the next 12 months.

One of the things we have to do every year if you own a car is get it inspected. For most of us its the time of year that can cost us a bunch of money if there is something wrong with your car.

Last year my inspection cost me like $800 because I had to get 4 new tires for my truck for it to pass the inspection.

When you go to get your inspection this year and you have tinted windows, be aware that the tint can cause your car or truck to fail the inspection.

According to New York Upstate, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a new state law on Monday that will now require any place that does New York State inspections to now measure window tint before they pass the vehicles inspection.

The new law will now require auto shops to test whether vehicle windows let at least 70 percent of light into the vehicle. If the tint is to dark the car or truck will fail the inspection.

State Senator John DeFrancisco told the website that

"Dark tinted car windows can inhibit drivers from making necessary eye contact with pedestrians and other drivers, they also can place law enforcement officers in jeopardy when making traffic stops because they cannot see what activity is occurring inside the vehicle."
