A brand of canned corn has been recalled in 25 states and 12 countries.

CNN reports that Del Monte has recalled its canned corn for a botulism risk. It has been recalled in 25 states, with New York being one of them. A total 64,242 cans of FIESTA CORN Seasoned with Red & Green Peppers have been recalled by Del Monte.

The official recall published by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says the corn was recalled for under processing. The under processing occurred during a commercial sterilization process and could result in contamination of the product and produce harmful effects if consumed.

The cans recalled are the 15.25-ounce (432g) cans with the UPC number 24000 02770. They have a variety of Best Of dates for the recall that can be found here. If you have one of the affected products, you should return it to the place of purchase for a refund or exchange, as advised by the FDA. The remaining states in which the corn was recalled are Alaska, Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey,  Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin. It has also been recalled in 12 countries: the United States, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, El Salvador, Haiti, Guyana, Uruguay, Aruba, Panama, Saint Lucia, and Suriname.
