A local bakery will be expanding their local bakery to keep up with demand, thanks to New York State.

Governor Cuomo has announced that Bread Alone will receive $800,000 from the Regional Economic Development Council initiative. The money is part of more than $763 million that was handed out to state businesses and projects to create jobs, improve quality of life and grow the local economy.

Bread Alone will use the grant to go towards a $4.4 million expansion of its Lake Katrine bakery. The project is expected to add 15,000 square feet and allow the bakery to sell more of its organic bread to their growing customer base.

Since they began their business in 1983, Bread Alone has been dedicated to sustainable operations. The expansion will include LEED-certified construction and use of renewable energy.

Bread Alone has locations in Rhinebeck, Woodstock, Lake Katrine, Kingston and Boiceville. Their baked products are available in stores and at farm markets all over the Hudson Valley and beyond.
