The latest forecast says most of the Hudson Valley could receive two feet of snow or more.

According to a Facebook post by Hudson Valley Weather, Tuesday’s nor’easter will dump 12 to 24 inches of snow for the majority of the Hudson Valley. Parts of Sullivan County, like Monticello and Ellenville, could see 18 to 30 inches of snow.

“The odds of this storm missing the Hudson Valley entirely are basically zero,” Hudson Valley Weather wrote. “The exact track of this storm system will determine whether the snowfall amounts are closer to 12 inches, or 24 inches.”

Snow should start falling between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday, with snow falling heavily between 6 a.m. and noon. Snow should taper to snow showers between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday. Snow will likely fall at one to four inches an hour.

Near white out conditions, zero visibility, wind gust of over 35 mph and snow drifts are predicted. Even a thunderstorm is in the forecast.

“This storm has the potential to bring the Hudson Valley to a standstill,” Hudson Valley Weather said.

As of this writing, the National Weather Service is predicting 13 to 21 inches of snow for most of the Hudson Valley. A winter storm warning is in effect from midnight Tuesday until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo activated the New York State Emergency Operations Center for Monday evening.

"The state will be proactively deploying resources to potentially impacted regions to stay ahead of the storm and keep New Yorkers safe," Cuomo said in a press release. "I encourage all New Yorkers in affected regions to plan ahead, and avoid any unnecessary travel as the storm progresses."

If the storm hits as expected, many schools and businesses will be closed. Use our storm center tool below to get the latest closings and delays for the Hudson Valley.
