Benedict Caccavale, 88, a resident of Wappingers Falls and previously of the Bronx, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.
Born on March 31, 1929 in the Bronx, Ben was the son of Carmine and Jennie Caccavale. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Ben worked as a salesman for American Bakeries in New York City for 25 years until his retirement in 1981. After his retirement, he worked at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and Plaza Pharmacy in Wappingers Falls. He was a volunteer for St. Columba Bingo for many years and at Castle Point VAMC for 11 years where he accumulated over 6300 hours. He enjoyed practicing karate, kung fu, boxing, and working with his hands. He loved golfing, casinos and cruising.

On December 13, 1958 in the Bronx, Ben married Rose Durante who predeceased him on November 1, 2004. He is survived by his son, Ben Jr. and his wife Ellen of Doylestown, PA; his sister, Annette Simini of West Haverstraw; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
