Anne M. Mayer, 81, of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice.

Born on August 10, 1936, in Newburgh, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and the late Martha (Cochrane) Murphy. She married Donald T. Mayer on August 18, 1963 at St. Mary's Church, Newburgh, NY. He died on October 31, 1996. She was a resident of Newburgh 70+ years and raised her family here.

Anne graduated from Laurelton Hall, Milford, CT and went on to graduate from St. Francis School of Nursing in Hartford, CT. Anne spent over 15 years serving and caring for others as a Registered Nurse at St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh, NY. She went on to work at Mid-Hudson Surgical Associates in Newburgh until her retirement. Mom volunteered with Meals on Wheels and belonged to the Optmisses. She has been a parishioner of St Patrick's Church for over 45 years.

Anne was a great mom, Nannie and friend. She was a lifelong NY Yankee fan and NY Giants fan. Her grandchildren were the light of her life! She loved when they visited. A lifelong Newburgh Resident she could recount many stories of shopping on Water Street or Newburgh Beacon Bridge opening.

She is survived by her daughters: Patricia M. Van Duser of Wallkill, Kathleen M. Marley and her husband, James of Newburgh, her son Thomas A. Mayer and his wife, Laura of New Windsor, her cousin The Rev. Richard J. Dillon of NY, NY and four grandchildren, Alyssa, Sean, Jake and Gregory.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Road (Rt. 32), Newburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10 a.m., Thursday, December 28th at St. Patrick’s Church, 55 Grand Street, Newburgh. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh, NY.
