An accident at the Mid Hudson Bridge is causing traffic nightmares for commuters this morning.

Hudson Valley traffic reporter, Nancy Reamy, tells us that an accident at the bridge is causing major delays for people attempting to cross the span into Poughkeepsie. The accident is blocking the right lane, mostly affecting eastbound traffic, with cars backing up on Route 9W in both directions.

Reamy suggests travelers use the Newburgh/Beacon or Kingston/Rhinecilff bridges if at all possible this morning. Those who must use the Mid Hudson Bridge should expect to experience long delays getting across the span.

Traffic heading westbound on the Mid Hudson Bridge is also being affected, with cars beginning to back up on the arterial and Route 9.

We will continue to update travelers on the air, over our internet stream and through our free mobile app. Be sure to turn on traffic alerts so you can stay updated with the latest breaking news as it happens.
