Disney has plans to make a new Star Wars movie every year until we all die. Since they brought back the franchise in 2015, we've already gotten The Force AwakensRogue OneThe Last Jedi, and the just-released Solo. Still to come, we've got Episode IX, a new trilogy from Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, a possible Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, and a different new trilogy from the guys behind Game of Thrones. Now you can throw another one on the list, with one added twist: this one's being made by a filmmaker raised in the Hudson Valley.

James Mangold, the director behind LoganWalk The Line3:10 to Yuma, and a whole bunch of great movies, has been hired to write and direct a Star Wars movie based on fan-favorite character Boba Fett. Mangold grew up in Orange County, and is a graduate of Washingtonville High School. (Weird sidenote: filmmaker Tony Gilroy is also a Washingtonville High graduate, and he ended up being heavily involved in Rogue One. The Force is strong with this school).

So that's pretty cool! The Hudson Valley is getting a hand in the biggest franchise of all time. I'm especially interested in seeing Mangold's take on Boba Fett after his work on Logan, which I would argue is one of the best superhero movies ever made. And hey, James Mangold, if you're reading this and want to give a fellow Hudson Valley resident a cameo, I am available. Just throwing it out there.
