On the day that Toby Keith was scheduled to perform in the Hudson Valley, nine underage people were arrested at the concert venue.

In June, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that there will be coordinated police sweeps to crackdown on underage drinking. “Operation Prevent” is led by the DMV, along with police, investigators, and the liquor authority.

The plan is for authorities to patrol parks, parking areas and concert venues to look for underage drinkers and potential drunk drivers. Police are also using alcohol sensors to determine if liquids in unmarked containers are actually alcoholic beverages.

Thursday, State Police from Sullivan County conducted an operation that targeted underage drinking at Bethel Woods. Uniformed and undercover State Police members worked together to identify and arrest people under the age of 21 who were found to be in possession of alcoholic beverages.

Police say nine people were arrested in the parking area outside of the main venue. All nine were charged with violations under New York State's Alcohol and Beverage Control Law.

Police did not release the names. All were issued appearance tickets returnable in the Town of Bethel Court and subsequently turned over to responsible parties.
