Bob Marley played a show in the Hudson Valley on June 12th, 1978 and there's audio from his soundcheck to prove it.

The Kaya Tour kicked off in May of that year and the first several shows actually ended up getting cancelled according to Marley's website. June 12th rolls around and Bob finds himself set to take the stage at the Mid Hudson Civic Center.

During the soundcheck, 'Heathens' is performed and thankfully recorded for posterity. Video would have been difficult to capture at the time because the camera would have been the size of a small VW bus. Just five days later, he made is first appearance at the world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden.

Bob Marley would live nearly three more years until dying from complications with cancer. His band The Wailers is still touring to this day. They have two shows coming up in Brooklyn on February 14th and 15th.
