2 Sex Offenders Move In Hudson Valley, 1 Near School, Church

Two high-risk sex offenders moved in the Hudson Valley. One is now living within walking distance of a local school.

On their Facebook page Kingston Police notified the public about two sex offender’s move to the Kingston area. Edward J. Champion is now living in an apartment on Elmendorf Street, while Christopher Haight moved to a home on Chestnut Street.

Haight, 25, was convicted in 2015 for sexual abuse, sexual contact without consent and sexual misconduct with a 14 and 15 year-old girl.

According to Google Maps, Haight lives a half-mile from SUNY Ulster at Kingston. In another direction, he’s a half-mile from St. Mary’s and St. Roman Catholic Church.

Champion, 27, was convicted in 2010 for sexual misconduct, intercourse without consent, of a 23-year-old female.

Both are considered Level-2 sex offenders. The Division of Criminal Justice Services considers Level 2 sex offenders to have a moderate risk of a repeat offense.
