Two men were indicated by a grand jury in connection with a home explosion that killed a Hudson Valley firefighter.

On Wednesday, 32-year-old Garivaldi Castillo of Manhattan and Juilo Salcedo, 34, of the Bronx were charged with first-degree and second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon, reports USA Today.

The charges stem from a Sept. 27 house explosion, at what turned out to be a marijuana growing operation, which killed FDNY Battalion Chief Michael Faey.

The 17-year FDNY veteran from Yonkers leaves behind his wife and three children.

"Chief Fahy responded to a building that turned out to be a time bomb," Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark stated. "These defendants allegedly were growing marijuana and kept flammable substances on the premises. Chief Fahy ordered residents out of the building, including one of the defendants, and saved their lives.”

Fahy was one of the first responders to the Bronx home fire. He lost his life when he was fatally struck in the head by a part of a roof that blew off during the explosion.

Officials found marijuana plants, heaters, fertilizer and tanks of helium inside the home, according to USA Today.

Castillo and Salcedo plead not guilty.
