Two New Paltz men are accused of entering a home, pointing a gun at a man and stealing from the home.

On Wednesday around 12:30 p.m., the New Paltz Police Department responded to an area apartment complex after receiving a report of men armed with a firearm fleeing from an apartment building.

Responding officers found a man who said two men forced their way into his home and threatened him with a gun.

Police quickly developed 19-year-old Ali S. Khalil and 21-year-old Chevon A. Lawrence of New Paltz as suspects. Both were soon arrested and charged with burglary, a felony.

A search warrant was later conducted and evidence related to the burglary including ammunition and the firearm were found, police say. Additional charges relating to the recovery of the firearm are anticipated.

Both were remanded to the Ulster County Jail on $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
