Two men are behind bars after a man was shot outside a Hudson Valley supermarket.

On Sunday around 2:35 p.m., someone flagged down a trooper on Route 82 and reported that a man was suffering from a gunshot wound in the ACME Markets parking lot in Hopewell Junction.

The unnamed man suffered a single gunshot wound to his leg. The trooper gave the man first aid and the man provided police with information on two men who were allegedly involved in the shooting.

Sean T. Peterson, 28, of Beacon and 30-year-old Devin B. Byers of Ohio were found fleeing in a 2007 Honda CRV by a deputy from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s office, police say.

A large amount of marijuana and a Springfield .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun were allegedly recovered.

Byers was charged with criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, robbery and criminal possession of marijuana, all felonies.

Peterson was arrested on felony robbery charges.

Both were arraigned before the town of East Fishkill Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond.

The victim was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
