On Dec. 18, the Putnam County Sheriff's Department responded to the home of a 16-year-old student who allegedly made bomb threats against Brewster High School using social media.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the student's home as well as a home frequented by the student for a security check and investigation. According to Putnam County Sheriff's Office Captain Lisa Ortolano, the deputies arrested and charged the student accordingly on December 19.  The student was released to the custody of his father.

Captain Ortolano said that the sheriff's office is working with both federal and state law enforcement agencies to further investigate the matter.  The captain is requesting that any parent or citizen that has questions or concerns about the incident can call 845-225-5550 and speak with Captain Ortolano directly.
